Upkeep Of Racehorses In A Racing Horse Stable
Horse racing is a sport that is well known and liked by many people. Horse racing funs always turn up to watch the races and sometimes even bet on which horse will win and win the prizes. The Horses that participate in the races are usually taken care of in stables where they are fed cleaned and treated when infected. The racehorse is therefore taken care of by four different persons who have specific roles in ensuring that the horses’ needs are met. These four people are; the groom, the stable hand, the vet and the trainer.
In the racehorse stables, there is a person known as the groom who has a significant purpose in the care of the racehorse. The groom is required to keep the horse in the right state emotionally and ensures that it’s appearance is always best. As compared to any other personnel, the groom spends more time with the racehorse in the stables. He ensures that the horse is in the right physical state by performing regular checkups on the horse for any damage on the coat and hooves. It is the groom who usually wash down the racehorse after a race and exercise it regularly.
Stable hands play a very significant part in making sure that the racehorse in the best state at all times. The cleaning of the racehorse stables is taken care of by the stable hand ensuring that it always stay clean and tidy. The stable hand ensures that the horse are well fed, he mucks out the horse boxes and is ever present during the races. The stable hand has various duties that in turn makes them close with the horse and can have a very close emotional relationship with the horse that can be harnesses when the horse has a problem on the tracks.
For a living creature to be of use, they must be healthy at all times. Racehorses need to be in the right physical, emotional and mental state at all times. A vet plays a very essential part in ensuring that the horse stays in the best health condition and issues the correct things the horse needs to remain in shape especially for feeds. When the groom raises any concern on the health status of the horse, it is the vet who comes in to do the checkups and knows what to do.
Racehorses are bred to specifically participate in races and must therefore be fit for the races. A racehorse needs to exercise to stay in shape. This is where the trainer comes in to ensure that the house can tackle the type of races it is required to. The trainer must have experience so as to give the best performing horses.
