A similar descriptive theory, actor-network theory, provides a means of analysing the power relations within an organization, which was used by Fox to criticize communities of practice theory (COPT) for its lack of attention to issues of power and inequality within the communities (Fox, 2000). During the course of fall ’10 semester, my students and I briefly researched the implications of dynamic layout designs used on digital tablets, more specifically, Apple’s iPad. Biesenbach-Lucas (2003) studied students’ perceptions of asynchronous online discussion assignments in two graduate-level teaching training courses. Next is the creation of cooperative teams (see Linn & Burbules [1993] for discussion on group learning in science classrooms) in which individual expertise will be acquired as groups begin to solve the problems posed and categorized in the preceding section.
